Missing my Boys!!!

Well....Jason and I are "childless" for a few days. Kaleb went to a leadership camp at Oklahoma Christian University. He's text me a couple of times. Sounds like he's having a good time. Jason and I will go Thursday to closing ceremonies and then pick him up. After we pick him up, we are going to go have dinner with some dear friends. James & Cindy Lankford and their girls. James was our youth minister in High School and he performed our wedding ceremony. We are super excited to catch up on everything.

Kolton is spending the week in Austin with Jason's mom. He must be having fun, because he's always too busy to talk to us on the phone. This is the first time he's been down there without Kaleb. I was worried about him not wanting to go at the last minute, but there was obviously no need to worry. Jason's going to meet Linda halfway on Friday to pick him up.

We are spending this weekend in Dallas with Alicia and Danielle to do some school clothes shopping. I can't WAIT for that! We have so much fun when the six of us go places.

I'm getting my hair done tomorrow. I'm SO ready. It's grown so fast. I might even take time to get a mani and a pedi!

I'm headed to bed early tonight!

Hello Strangers!!!

Well.....since Tracye mentioned I haven't updated in a while, I thought I'd take a minute to do just that. WOW....what a crazy couple of month it's been. Jason and I spent the entire month of April and May in Austin. His dad went into the hospital the 3rd of April to have a heart cathetarization done. Not long after he went in he began retaining fluid so they couldn't do the procedure. He went from congestive heart failure to renal failure to liver failure by the middle of May. He passed away on May 15, 2009. It was a VERY trying time for Jason and me. We are extremely thankful we were in a position where we could be down there for the last few weeks of his life.

Linda, my mother-in-law, is possible the most amazing woman in the world. She has handled the loss of Leon with the utmost courage and bravery. I can't say that I would have been near as strong as she was and continues being.

We are all adapting to Leon not being here. The little things are what hits buttons that brings all the emotions roaring back. Jason called his mom last week and the answering maching picked up....it was Leon's voice. Linda said last Sunday's church service contained alot of good 'ole fashion hyms and she said all she could hear was Leon singing.

We were in Austin this week helping Linda with some insurance and stuff. On the way back, Kolton got real quiet and said, "Mom, it doesn't seem like Grandpa is really in heaven. It just feels like he's on a trip". There are times when that is very true. I kept waiting for him to come in the back door with his red shirt, khaki shorts, and tall socks whistling away.

Our comfort is knowing that one day we will get to see him again and listen to his beautiful voice sing again. R.I.P. Leon!!!! We love you!

Proud Momma!

I'm gonna brag on this entry! Kaleb FINALLY got to play tonight. He played the last 3 innings at first base and did AWESOME!!! I think he played better than anybody they've had there all season. All but one or two of the outs those three innings were made at 1st. That says alot in my book! I'm extremely proud of him!

We also had a milestone with Kolton today. Kolton loves to read, but he only likes non-fiction. There is nothing AT ALL wrong with that, but I've always felt like there had to be a genre on fictin that he would like. We finally found it today! He likes mysteries. I guess I've never steered him in that direction because they don't seem to "fit" his personality. Boy was I wrong. He's almost read an entire book just today. He'll definately have it done by the time he comes home from school tomorrow. I'm so proud of him!

New to Blogging

This is new to me and I don't know how well I will keep it up. I've been following a few blogs of other people, and I've really enjoyed keeping track of my loved ones' day to day lives since I don't get to see them very often. As I said in my blog description, this will be very random. Some days it will be to vent, some days to brag on my boys, some days just to ramble. Who knows where this will head, but I am very excited to get it going!
Kolton had his first try-out for a traveling baseball team today. He did pretty good. He's got to work on his speed, but the fundamentals are there. With some polishing he should be awesome. He goes back Friday. We should know after that whether he'll be on the team or not.
Kaleb is playing baseball for the school right now. He's improved SO much since last year. We are having the same old drama with the traveling ball for him that we have every year! I don't understand why the older these boys get the more the teams become "elite". If you don't rub elbows with the right people or pay people off, it's almost impossible for your child to get on a traveling team. He wants to be on one so bad, but we are hitting a dead end at every turn. I feel so helpless and I just don't know what to do now but continue to pray about it. I hate to see him so frustrated. He's a good player and deserves an equal chance.
Anyway...We leave next Saturday for Galveston. We are leaving on a cruise Sunday to go to Key West, Freeport & Nassau. I can NOT wait!!!! I'll definitely have lots to write about when we get back!
I'm out for now! Hope everyone has a good week!
